Powerball Mega Millions Mania Is Back Again

It’s time again for Powerball Mega Millions Mania Mania is Back Again! After a 33rd consecutive drawing without a winner, the Powerball multi-state lottery game now features a jackpot that will provide multi-generational wealth to the lucky player who eventually wins it all. The Powerball jackpot increased to a whopping $550 million for Wednesday’s drawing — the 13th-largest US lottery jackpot of all time and the 9th-largest jackpot in the game’s history. The original post was on 12/30/2017. It has been updated.

According to LotteryPost.com, “The Powerball and Mega Millions of games are currently in a rare “alignment,” in which both jackpots are swelling to substantial amounts at the same time. For the first time since 2018, Powerball and Mega Millions’ combined value is greater than $1 billion. Together, the two multi-state lottery games offer a total of $1.15 billion in this week’s drawings.”

While the chance of a single ticket matching all six numbers in either game is minuscule — 1 in 302 million for Mega Millions and 1 in 292 million for Powerball — it’s still worth considering how you would handle such a windfall if you were to beat the odds.

The Truths About Powerball:

Powerball mania
  • 5% of Jackpot winners used Quick Picks for their numbers.
  • The four winning-est Powerball Numbers are 26, 41, 22, 16
  • The odds are so large that even buying every number combination at $2 a ticket would cost you $584 million.  Sounds like a profit, right.  After taxes, you’ll still owe millions.
  • Lottery results are completely random so that no one can control the outcome. It is impossible to predict a number beyond its overall probability of appearing among the winning numbers. A random guess has just as much chance at winning as playing birthdays, anniversary dates, or any personal system. Players can’t control lottery outcomes by using various methods to forecast winning numbers
  • On October 7, 2015, the rules were changed to make the jackpot harder to hit and grow larger jackpots. The previous jackpot probability was 1 in 175.2 million. It is now 1 in 292.2 million.
  • Buying more tickets does not increase your chances.  Each ticket should be considered like one play on a slot machine – one event. THE ODDS DON’T CHANGE! YOU DON’T HAVE A BETTER CHANCE IF MORE OR fewer PEOPLE BUY TICKETS, OR WHATEVER THE JACKPOT IS!

The Truths About Mega Millions

  • You can play Mega Millions in 45 states plus the District of Columbia and the U. S. Virgin Islands, a total of 47 jurisdictions.
  • The history of Mega Millions is as exciting as playing the game! Following a record $363 million Big Game jackpot in 2000, interest in multi-state games was at an all-time high. And as interest in the multi-state games grew, so did the participants. In May 2002, New York and Ohio joined Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, and Virginia to create Mega Millions! Sales for the country’s newest multi-state jackpot game began on May 15, 2002
  • On January 31, 2010, 23 more state lotteries joined Mega Millions as a historic cross-selling agreement between Mega Millions and Powerball went into effect.

Mega Lottery Truths and Chances

While it is true – “You Can’t Win If You Don’t Play,” what chances do you have to win? You have a better chance of the following happening instead of winning Powerball:

  2. Getting killed by a terrorist act in the United States: 1 in 10,000,000
  3. Getting murdered during a trip to the Grand Canyon: 1 in 8,156,000

That’s all for now. Next, I have to rush down to Lotto Mart to buy a ticket.
