Let’s face it, 2020 really stunk. Any change would have been great. So, did you pick a New Year’s resolution for 2021? These New Year Resolutions represent changes in our normal gambling lives by COVID-19. But they may be temporary since we may be turning the corner on the pandemic. So, I ask you again, How Are Your New Year Gambling Resolutions For 2021 doing? Check below – maybe it’s time to add one if you didn’t, or consider another. Let’s take a look again at the possibilities.
Resolutions That Are Always Important.
Keep to Your Bankroll.
Still #1 New Year Gambler’s Resolution in my book. Only take the bankroll you can afford. Play with money budgeted for gambling, not for life’s necessities. Create win/loss limits and stick to them! Delete “Cash Advance” and “ATM” from your gambling vocabulary.
Respect Other Players Space And Focus
Don’t bother others. Don’t push your personality on others or give unsolicited advice. Do your homework and learn the games. Asking for a little advice is one thing, but don’t be a pain in the #$% to the guests, dealers, and staff.
Learn The Games I Don’t Know
A little homework goes a long way to cut the house edge. Learn the basic strategy, rules, bets, and etiquette of the game you play. No matter what your game of choice is, buy a good book, get some practice software, and prepare yourself. If you have to ask a stranger about the game or machine, chances are you shouldn’t be playing it.

Learn a New Game.
Practice first, then try it in the casino. I was thinking of adding Spanish 21 to my table game arsenal. But before I do, I have been practicing at the Wizard of Odds. I suggest you do the same.
Keep Your Winnings and Will Log My Play
Your winnings are just that – YOUR Winnings. On any sizable win, try to keep half. Please put it in your pocket, or use one of those pocket safes—plan for your next session.
Remember, casino chips represent real money. Color up your chips before leaving the table. The dealers and pit would prefer it, and you have real money in your hand to decide your next move.
Log Your Play
Log your gambling. Keep track of time spent, casinos visited, promotions used, and money won/lost. Patterns of losing play, or machines played, indicate that modifications are needed.
Resolutions For the Pandemic
Stay Home If Not Feeling Well Or If A-Symptomatic With a Positive Test
Bringing more problems to the casino is something the industry can’t handle. If you want to see that your favorite casino thrive again, be socially responsible for everyone’s sake. Less COVID spread in the casino means more confidence for visitation. More guest visitation means more staff. More staff means less unemployment. It’s a Win-Win.
Wear A Mask and Follow Casino Protocols
Yup, stop the spread and wear a mask. And KEEP THAT NOSE COVERED.
Patiently Wait For Conditions To Improve
The distribution of COVID vaccines will take time. Take a deep breath and know this, too, will pass. Just not as quickly as we’d all like it to. And be patient with the staff. A kind demeanor will go along way to get the attention you’re looking for. Tipping helps also!
I Can Only Control My Own Response During the Pandemic
Some do not have the same viewpoint about the science involved. Remember, you only have control over your response. Choose low visitation times, follow the protocols, and take care of yourself.
12 Gambling Resolutions For 2021 – Final Considerations
I Won’t Chase My Losses and Play With Money I Can Lose
Never play past your bankroll to overcome losses. A losing streak means it’s time to stop, assess, take a break, or even leave.
Go Easy On The Booze
Don’t let alcohol make your judgment fuzzy. If you want to have a drink while you play, that’s your business. Have a good time, but keep a clear head, too.
Keep Your Perspective On The Enjoyment Of the Experience
Keep perspective and play for fun. Most of us will lose more than we win at any game. Players are best off to treat losses as the price of admission for a day’s entertainment – a win or breaking even is a plus.
Be More Aware of Your Average Daily Theoretical and Your Rewards Club Offers
Remember, all rewards clubs have different rules. Read the fine print, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Take advantage of Players Club promotions. Be aware of when your points expire or when your tier status ends.
