It was a typical trip to start with. Leave early, arrive at 8:00, play free slot play, etc. Have love mornings in a casino. Here’s a Mini Trip Report about MGM Springfield Sports Betting Lounge and More.

New Sports Betting Lounge

I enjoyed the area dedicated to video poker, but the new Sportsbook and lounge will be an excellent addition for western Massachusetts sports bettors at MGM Springfield.

Game-watching across the back wall.

It has a classy feel. Constructed behind the “island bar” near the Main Street entrance of the casino, the area has 70 lounge seats that face a 45-foot-long viewing screen that can have 16 different events playing.

A place to relax with friends when watching the games

Adjacent to the seating area is designed for groups to watch sports together. The betting windows are under the second group of television screens.

The sports betting area was not the only new addition to the casino. MGM Springfield removed the arcade games near the bowling alleys in the TAP sports bar. A VIP Sports Lounge with an 8″ by 13′ viewing screen is in their place. The lounge has easy chairs and couches and can be reserved for groups. It also has its special menus.

Amenities Get Boost

MGM Springfield continues to focus on expanding amenities to accommodate increasing guests as demand grows and visitation continues to rise. Two of the casino’s popular nightlife hotspots, Commonwealth Bar and Lounge and the Knox Bar, reopened last week.

Commonwealth will be open Thursday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to midnight and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. The Knox will be open from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. every Friday and Saturday.

MGM Springfield will also expand TAP Sports Bar’s operating hours beginning Wednesday, September 15. The venue will be open Wednesday through Friday from 4 to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 10 p.m.

Let’s not forget about “Roar!” has opened. The comedy club in the Armory is an excellent addition for laughs at MGM Springfield.

Personal Notes

I still like the vibe at MGM Springfield. That “industrial chic” still works – a classy blue-collar feel.

  • But I have a significant complaint concerning video poker maintenance. Many video poker all-star and Superstar machines with many games require repair. For most of that I played, I had to use the touch screen to hold cards, draw, or even change games. Is this a reflection of MGM’s opinion of their video poker clientele?
  • On the plus side, more new slots are piling in. If you’re a slot player, you shouldn’t be bored!
  • Rumor has it Poker is expected back by the end of the year.
  • Concerts and entertainment are coming back.
  • I’m begging you – BRING BACK PAI GOW POKER!
  • The drink stations are up and running. Great news.

It was a good morning. But it would have been nice to have a snack and a coffee somewhere…
