In these days of heightened anxiety over the coronavirus, I still like to experience casino gambling, but only if I can still sit in my recliner. Guide for the “Stay at Home” Gambler is about free fun sites, with additional things like credits that can be bought.
Please Note – This is not a “how to” for real online gambling, with real money exchanged.

The Wizard of Odds
Players should look no further than the Wizard of Odds. Players of all casino games will gain insight at Michael Shackleford’s site. Odds & strategies are provided for hundreds of games, as well as a free practice tutor. Gambling videos and articles are available, as well. Also, Mr. Shackleford has many fabulous tutorials on YouTube.
The American Casinos Guide, by Scott Bourie, includes an entire series on YouTube as well. His website, AmericanCasinoGuide.com, has plenty of great “how-to” stuff as well and covers every state’s legal gaming.
Try watching slot bonuses. Watching other people play slots and hitting amazing bonuses are all over YouTube. Brian Christopher Slots seems to be a favorite site, although this kind of YouTube entertainment has grown immensely.

While we wait for conditions to improve, we can practice – yes, that’s the right practice. If you are a Video Poker player, buy a Gold membership or PRO at VideoPoker.com. Not only will you actually learn the best strategy for playing any video poker game, but you can test your knowledge as well. The VP Pro membership actually covers Ultimate X and Quick Quads strategy. It also has Keno games, tons of VP games, and daily contests.
Home Casino Gambling Guide – Apps to Enjoy Your Favorite Slot
There are many apps for your devices that include your favorite casino slots. All of these are free to download, with the ability to purchase credits. Guide for the “Stay at Home” Gambler suggests the following apps:
- Jackpot Party, Monopoly Slots, published by Scientific Games (for example, Lock It Link, Zeus, Heidi’s Bier Haus)
- Cashman & Heart of Vegas, published by Aristocrat Gaming (Buffalo, LightningLink, Dragon Link, More Chili, Wonder 4)
- Double Down Slots, published by IGT (Double Diamond, Quick Hit Slots, published by Scientific Games (Quick Hit Ultra, Quick Hit Platinum)
- Gold Fish Casino Slots, published by Phantom EFX (assorted IGT & SG games).
Table Game Apps
Here are a few apps for table game players. One is Riverboat Gambler, which hosts Blackjack, Mississippi Stud, Three Card Poker, Pai Gow Poker – basically 28 games, new and old. Tutors are not available, but game explanations are there for every game. My favorite craps app is “Aw Craps!” I like the interface and it teaches bets and odds. There are many BlackJack apps, but the best tutors reviewed are BlackJack Trainer HD Free and BC Blackjack.
10 Podcasts – Something for Everyone
I love to listen to podcasts. As far as gambling/casino podcasts go, my two favorites are You Can Bet on That & The Bettor Life!$ Both are very entertaining, 5-star podcasts working through a gamut of gambling topics. Each has knowledgeable hosts with insightful guests that are fun and informative. These and the following list are great for the “podcast binge.” Haven’t listened to them? Start at episode #1 and begin the journey.
As a matter of fact, there are more great podcasts out there, each with a particular slant or interest. In no particular order, and listing their most popular topics, try:
- Gambling With an Edge – Advantage Play, Video Poker, BlackJack
- TravelZork, ZorkCast$ – chats about casinos, luxury travel, Las Vegas, and gambling
- Vegas Confessions! – Gambling stories and Las Vegas experiences
- Art In The Game$ – Everything MGM Springfield, Springfield history, local gambling
- Two Morons Talking About Casinos and Stuff!! – Two dealers from the Vegas Strip
- Professor Slots – State by State Reports and Advice Concerning Slot Machines
- Know Your Slots – Tips, information, and more to help you be a savvier slot player
Please note, some may contain “salty language,” signified with an exclamation point (!). By the way, a few have had yours truly as a guest at least once, signified by a dollar sign ($).
I understand the “stress” many of us are having to deal with in a whole new world right now. But, think of the money you’re saving. If you are smart, you are putting away monthly bankroll money for that big play when casinos open. In any case, I hope this Guide for the “Stay at Home” Gambler has given you an outlet for some of your pent-up gambling enthusiasm.
Until then, my friends, stay healthy and safe. Patience my friends, patience.
