Gambler’s New Year Resolutions
#1– Stay within your Bankroll! Know what you can spend. If you have a winning session; great! But stick to your limit. When losses start to approach that limit, slow down. Take a timeout, get a snack – people watch! If you hit your limit, it’s time to stop.#2 – Respect other players and their space without distraction : Don’t be a pain in the #$% to the dealer and staff. Keep your unsolicited advice to yourself. If they don’t ask, leave other players alone. DON’T BE THAT GUY! #3 – Learn how to play : Learn the basic strategy in blackjack and for each video poker you play. Know the rules and best bets in craps. No matter your game of choice, buy a book, go online, and practice the best playing strategies. If you have to ask a stranger about the game or machine, chances are you shouldn’t be playing it.#4 Know Your Players Rewards Club Casino Reward Clubs are free, but they’re not all the same. For example, 1 point in one club equals $1, but in other players clubs, 100 points equals $1. Take advantage of Players Club promotions – especially multiplier days. Know when your points expire and how long the time is for earning points to get higher status.#5 – Keep part of your winnings: Your winnings are just that – YOUR WINNINGS. Consider putting away at least half of any sizable win to play again another day and your next session. NETG suggests using the Gambler’s Box (above) to slip away those TITO slips or “Benjamins” in something like this so you can’t get at it. Or, just give it to your spouse – to be returned in the car.#6 Never chase losses: Never play past your Bankroll to overcome losses. Remember, you’re never “due” to win; wins and losses don’t have to even out when we play. A losing streak means it’s time to ease back or quit because the house edge will get you in the long run.#7 Don’t use credit card cash advances for gambling money: Do you think the house edge is high on some games? Try comparing it to credit card interest rates. The house edge added to interest on borrowed money and ATM fees is a formidable combination to overcome. Bring your cash, or get a MARKER from the casino if you’re a big player. Hide those credit cards and ATM cards in your car. RELATED POST – WHAT IS A MARKER? #8 Log your gambling. They are keeping track of your gambling. Time spent, casinos visited, promotions used, and money won/lost are the things to log. Patterns of losing play or “favorite” machines played may indicate a need for a change.#9 Go easy on the alcohol: Don’t let alcohol make your judgment fuzzy. Sure, I know, free drinks are one of the perks we look forward to. But don’t overindulge. If you want a drink while playing, that’s your business. Just have a good time, but keep a clear head, too.#10 Remember – Recreational Gambling Should be FUN Keep perspective and keep it recreational. There are few pros, as compared to the mass of gamblers around the world. You know what they say – If your gambling is no longer fun, don’t wait for the problem to get worse .GOOD LUCK ON YOUR NEW YEAR”S RESOLUTIONS – WHATEVER THEY MAY BE!
