Meanwhile, “What IS your favorite gambling movie?”
To me, the old movie “The Sting” is one of the greatest movies ever made and is my favorite. Would you call it a gambling movie? Of course – it consistently is included in “Top Whatever” gambling/casino movie lists. I just think that it’s a classic movie that I could watch over and over and over.
Which got me thinking, there have been many movies involving gambling themes. I wonder what I’ve seen and what I haven’t. So, here’s a list of some of the movies most listed as great casino/gambling movies – obviously missing many, probably some of your favorites. Here’s a list of the most noted in, well, “favorites lists.”
Try making your own top 10 list and send it to us! Use the list below or add some others. But remember to send it to us and I will copy it to our Facebook page.
The Sting (1973)
National Lampoon’s Vegas Vacation (1997)
Ocean’s Eleven (1960) (the original)
Ocean’s Eleven (the remake) (2001)
Ocean’s Twelve (2004)
Leaving Las Vegas (1995)
The Hangover (one or the whole trilogy) (2009)
The Hustler (1961)
Casino Royale (2006)
The Cooler (2003)
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)
Hard Eight (1997)
Big Town (1987)
Honeymoon in Vegas (1992)
Call me crazy, but the one gambling movie that I could watch over and over is Lampoon’s “Vegas Vacation.” I can’t get enough of that weird casino with the game “Guess the number I’m Thinking.” I guess it’s not surprising it never caught on.
That’s all for now.
