It’s been difficult keeping up with all the casino news in New England. Openings, closings, and possible sales all going on is putting NETG to the task – but we’re up to it.
Is Plainridge Park slot parlor up to it? Forty-five miles separate Plainridge Park Casino and their newest competition. Between the opening of MGM Springfield, Twin River Casino & Hotel, and the constant competition from the CT casinos, can Plainridge handle another casino battle?
Well, it’s going to, because the new guys are opening today – it’s welcome to New England, Tiverton Casino Hotel.
Owned by the same company that owns Twin River, Twin River Management Group, Tiverton Casino will be a full-service casino with 1,000 slot machines, 32 table games, an 84-room hotel and a sit-down Italian restaurant and quick food outlets.
A few statistics to know – It will have:
- a 85,000 square foot casino
- 84-room, three-story hotel
- two fine dining restaurants
- a foodcourt
- The casino will have 1,000 slot machines and 32 table games.
Work began on the $140 million complex last September after the Tiverton Planning Board voted 6-1 to approve the construction plan. Twin River remains bullish on the East Coast gaming industry. Along with its Tiverton investment, the company recently acquired Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Delaware through a planned merger.
Tomorrow NETG will be taking an early trek for a quick look at the new Rhode Island casino. Look for a review in the next few days.
