The Arena at Mohegan Sun was ranked #1 on Pollstar Magazine’s “Top Stops” survey. For venues seating 5001 – 10,000, the Arena was voted ahead of Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, Radio City Music Hall in NYC, and The Greek Theater in California.
Considerations included number of shows, tickets sold/seating capacity and gross revenue during a particular time span, which was June 16 – July 23, which featured the likes of U2, Pitbull, Barenaked Ladies, Steely Dan & the Doobie Brothers, Britney Spears, Faith Hill & Tim McGraw, Barry Manilow, and Charlie Pugh.
In case you haven’t visited the Mohegan Sun Arena, it is a 10,000 seat multi-purpose arena in Uncasville, Connecticut located inside Mohegan Sun. The arena facility features 30,000 square feet of configurable exhibition space and opened in October 2001.
By 2006, the seating had been configured into 6 common sports configurations – basketball, boxing, bowling, rodeo, table tennis, & lacrosse. As a concert venue, it can also be reconfigured to fit many types of concerts: regular, fullhouse, centerstage, and halfhouse.
The arena has won awards for being one of America’s most modern concert venues. The arena was awarded the 2008 and 2010 Country Music Award for “Casino of the Year”. It was also ranked the 4th best venue by Billboard Magazine.
Congratulations once again to Mohegan Sun.
