While the fight continues over lost jobs and revenue derived from gambling in CT, Foxwoods Resort Casino will be the place to find a job Thursday when Tanger Factory Outlet Centers holds a job fair for up to 900 positions it will fill in the retail outlet that opens in May at the casino.
According to Roger Blessing of the Norwich Bulletin, “The more than $125 million project also has created in excess of 400 jobs during the construction phase, Tanger officials said. The completed outlet will generate an estimated $10.4 million in annual sales tax revenue, they said. Construction on the 300,000-square-foot facility began in September 2013, and it’s scheduled to open May 21.”
Tanger will look to hire full- and part-time workers for more than 80 outlet retailers, including well-known national brands such as American Eagle Outfitters, Ann Taylor, Coach and Nike. The fair is free and open to the public.
“The economic impact will be widespread as we bring new jobs to southeastern Connecticut,” Felix Rappaport, president and CEO of Foxwoods Resort Casino, said. It also creates new employment opportunities for the rest of the state and residents in neighboring Rhode Island, he said.
Mark the date on your calendar. And get the year rolling in retail when the project opens in May!
