Maine Casino News with Some Downeast Humor

Humor, Hollywood and Oxford…oh my!

There are many funny and unique things about Maine and Mainers, most notably their unusual, regional accent. The humor is often quite simple and straight-forward and reveals an inner wisdom with historical roots going back generations.  There are many famous Maine humorists / comedians, but I prefer my first experiences listening to the “Down East” stories of Bert & I.

Yes, I love Maine Humor, cause it’s “wicked funny!” Check this “Application to Live in Maine” taken from a Maine fisherman’s forum called Stripers Online –

Wicked Good Oxford Casino
Maine’s gambling control board is considering a proposal to allow a new variation of poker at one of the state’s casinos. At its regular meeting Tuesday in Augusta, the board will consider Oxford Casino’s proposal to begin offering a card game known as Pai Gow, a variant of a Chinese gambling game played with dominoes.

The goal is for a player to assemble seven cards dealt into two separate poker hands – one with five cards, the other with two – in hopes of beating the dealer on both.

For a great beginner’s course to learn how to play Pai Gow Poker, check out the Wizard of Odds at or click on the link to the right.

The gambling control board will see a demonstration of the game and review proposed rules for it.
